Description - PC / Mister FPGA / Raspberry Pi CGA 15Khz to JVS JAMMA
We could say that this is a PCtoJAMMA or a JPac adapter compatible with both conventional JAMMA systems and JVS (JAMMA Video Standard) systems, which was developed by SEGA and is an evolution of the traditional JAMMA (Japan Amusement Machinery Manufacturers Association) system. Machines like NNC, Vewlix or Namco used this JVS system.
With this board we can connect our PC, Mister FPGA or Raspberry Pi to an Arcade machine with a JAMMA or JVS system. WARNING, our PC, Mister or Raspberry must output a native RGB video image signal at 15Khz refresh rate to be able to use the possible original monitor we have in our Arcade cabinet, as this board does not convert video.
The JAMMA standard defines a 56-pin interface that is used to connect the Arcade game boards to the components of the Arcade machine, such as the control panel (buttons and joysticks), monitor, etc.. In other words, it provides connections for the power supply, video, audio and control signals necessary for the operation of the game.
One of the great advantages of this JAMMA system is that it allowed for compatibility and easy interchangeability of game boards between different Arcade machines that complied with the standard. This meant that games could be exchanged and updated by simply plugging and unplugging JAMMA game boards without the need for modifications to the Arcade machine itself. It also simplified the process of maintaining and repairing the machines, since having a standardized interface made it much easier for technicians to identify and fix problems.
On the other hand, JVS (JAMMA Video Standard) was a new standard developed by SEGA, introduced as an evolution of the JAMMA standard and offering greater flexibility and communication capabilities in Arcade systems. JVS replaces the traditional cables and connectors used in JAMMA with an Ethernet-based interface, allowing data transmission and communication between the game board and peripherals in a much faster and more efficient way. In addition, JVS also supports digital video and audio signals.
One of the advantages of JVS is its ability to support multiple monitors and high resolutions, allowing developers to create much more immersive and visual gaming experiences. In addition, JVS systems also support SEGA-specific controls, such as the Lindbergh control panels and the Naomi gun peripheral.
JVS-based systems are capable of delivering high-quality graphics and sound, as well as advanced features, such as support for network connections and the ability for software upgrades.
Although JVS has become a widely used standard in the Arcade industry, not all systems adopt this standard. Some manufacturers have their own proprietary interfaces that are not compatible with JVS.
Thanks to this board we can connect your PC, Mister or Rasbperry to out Arcade machine with JAMMA or JVS system, in order to enjoy the latest generation of Arcade games, with sound and digital image. Compatible with dual monitor, RCA audio input, integrated audio amplifier and dual USB port (type A and type B).
