Description - OSSC 1.6 SCART Component VGA to HDMI Scaler Retro Consoles
The magnificent OSSC is a rescaler, or more precisely, a line multiplier that allows us to connect our old consoles and retro computers to current HD television sets.
The video input connections that the OSSC accepts are 3: Scart RGB, Component and VGA. With this rescaler you can increase the resolution and through the HDMI output port you can get a sharp and super high quality image in a current modern TV LCD, plasma, Led, OLED, etc.
The OSSC is an easy, simple and not very costly way to connect and use our classic consoles of 8, 16 and 24 bits and retro computers on modern TVs and monitors via HDMI without having to spend large amounts on a Framemeister board for example. Thanks to the OSSC board (Open Source project by the way) we can forget about bad rescaling and interlaced artifacts. Unlike other scalers on the market, the OSSC processes the image WITHOUT lag (actually a few nanoseconds). This gives it a great advantage over other lower quality scalers.
The OSSC board also allows us to apply scanlines of different type and intensity, obtaining a video image very similar to that of a CRT television. In addition, the OSSC doesn't apply any type of filters (scanlines are created by hardware) nor work via buffer to apply any type of final effects to the video image. This scaler outputs the image directly by hdmi at the same original frequency of our consoles, preventing any input lag.
The OSSC has another series of advantages such as avoiding other problems that consoles and retro computers have when using a CRT TV. Sometimes when using an RGB cable in a CRT TV we'll see some distortion on the image or we'll see part of the image being eating by the TV frame. These geometry adjustment problems are really irritating and are complex to resolve. For example, having to access the TVs service menu to correct and adjust the geometry values of the set. Thanks to the OSSC board all these problems can be prevented.
The OSSC scaler is available at Arcadexpress with several accessories already included in the final price: An EU power adapter, a remote control, a power supply and 2 RCA to mini Jack 3.5mm adapters to output stereo audio. The OSSC re-scaler is compatible with an endless number of consoles and retro computers providing an extraordinary video image quality, without LAG and at an affordable price.
