Description - Anti-Slam Tilt Switch with Bracket Arcade / Pinball

An Anti-Slam Tilt Switch is used to discourage heavy abuse of an arcade or pinball cabinet. If a machine slam tilts for whatever reason, the game is OVER. The slam switch is a relic from the electro-mechanical pinball machine days. It's purpose was to prevent players from obtaining free credits by beating, kicking or hitting the front door from the vibration of the coin switch contacts.

In the past, arcade and pinball operators would place the Anti-Slam Tilt Switch on the coin door and on the bottom of the machine. One on the coin door to prevent "slamming" credits on the machine. The one on the bottom was to try and detect a drop; Some cabinets had a sensor just under the lockdown bar to detect slamming the top of the glass near the front of the cabinet.

The Anti-Slam Tilt Switches are just leaf switches that signal a slam to the game when they come into contact. The Anti-Slam Tilt Switch is also known as "anti-cheat", "tilt", and "slap" switch. In the old days it was a normally closed (NC) switch and was wired in series to the coin switches. When banging on the door, it opened the circuit thus momentarily killing the coin switch circuit. Modern games that use an Anti-Slam Tilt Switch switch, like gambling or slot machines, are normally open (NO) switches and are connected to the game board. When the switch is activated the gameboard resets (just like you turned off the power then back on again) and ALL CREDITS are lost.
